Bushfire Rated Roller Shutters details

Tested to BAL 40

A Bushfire Attack Level (BAL) describes how much ember attack, radiant heat and flame contact a building may be exposed to. BAL 40 is the second-highest level.

The AE401 Sentry Fireshield system achieved BAL 40 when tested in its specified configuration under AS 1530.8.1-2007. The test exposure reached a radiant heat flux of 40 kW/m².

Testing was carried out by CSIRO.

The AE401 Sentry Fireshield system

AE401 is a heavy-duty, curved aluminium roller shutter profile — heavier than our standard domestic profile — designed for appropriate bushfire-prone applications and larger openings.

Who it's for

The AE401 is a strong choice if your project includes:

  • Homes in areas with a bushfire attack level assessment
  • Commercial premises in bushfire-prone areas
  • Window and door openings within the system's maximum sizes

Key specifications

Configuration and installation

To carry the BAL 40 result, the shutter is supplied and installed to match the tested configuration. Your site's BAL requirement is usually set by a bushfire assessment and your builder or certifier, and we work to it.

Send your BAL assessment, plans and opening sizes with your enquiry and we'll recommend the right set-up for your project.
