External roller shutters

Outdoor Roller Shutters in Melbourne

Outdoor roller shutters — also called external roller shutters — sit outside your windows, doors and alfresco openings, stopping heat, wind and rain before they reach the glass. Built for Melbourne weather and installed by our own team.

Why fit them outside

Protection that starts outside the glass

  • Stops heat at the glass

Sun is blocked outside, before it can heat the window.

  • Weather protection

Helps shield windows from wind, rain and hail.

  • Privacy and blackout

Covers the whole opening from the outside.

  • Security

A solid barrier on the outside of the building.

Outdoor Roller Shutters details

Outdoor shutters and Melbourne weather

Because they sit outside, outdoor shutters take the full force of sun, rain and wind. The mounting position, the roller box and how the shutter is guided all need to suit an exposed location.

We look at how exposed each opening is — orientation, height, nearby trees and how the wall is built — and recommend a shutter built to handle it.

  • Orientation and sun exposure
  • Wind and weather exposure, including upper storeys
  • Wall construction and mounting position
  • Manual or electric operation

Alfresco areas, doors and larger openings

Outdoor shutters aren't just for windows. They're a great way to close in an alfresco area, protect large glass doors or secure other external openings. Tell us what you'd like to cover and we'll recommend the best option at the measure.

Exposed and high-wind openings: StormShield

For larger outdoor and alfresco openings, or sites exposed to strong wind, we offer Ozroll StormShield with its stronger, filled HDF profile.

StormShield comes in restrained and unrestrained versions. Cyclone Category 3 is available when the HDF profile is combined with restrained guides; the unrestrained version adds strength but does not carry that rating.

StormShield spans up to 3.6 m with a standard guide, 4.0 m extended and 4.2 m restrained, up to 10 m².

See-through roller shutters

Want to keep the view? Our see-through shutters combine aluminium slats with clear or tinted polycarbonate sections, so light still comes through and you can see out when the shutter is closed — ideal for enclosing alfresco areas.
